〒600-8052 Kyoto, Shimogyo Ward, Shioyacho, 51 ラトゥール綾小路 54−101 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Sesame tofu, beef braised in red wine, braised pork, chilled octopus and potato salad: the small plates ordered by different diners offer a glimpse of the pleasure of sampling Kyoto-style Japanese food at Ayafuya. These dishes were not all served at one table; they were chosen by visitors on separate occasions. You could pick a few to make a meal, or focus on dishes to enjoy with a drink.
On another visit, a diner started with three kinds of obanzai—home-style Japanese side dishes—before enjoying soba. It is also possible to follow a selection of small plates with soba to finish the meal, making this a good fit for an evening of trying several dishes. One visitor noted the range of sake and said they spotted some unusual labels. Beer and wine are available too, so there is plenty to consider when choosing a drink to go with your food.
Ayafuya has been described as a small restaurant where solo diners can eat at the counter, making it an option for anyone who prefers to enjoy dinner at their own pace. Reservations are available. Dinner is served Monday to Friday from 18:00 to 23:00; the restaurant is closed at weekends.
